I was born missing a tooth, which led to self-consciousness and years of orthodontics to maintain the correct space. I always wondered what it would be like to have a beautiful smile. Although I wore a flipper for years, I was too embarrassed to take my tooth out even when my friends found that cool. During my initial appointment, Dr. Jim Downs asked what I didn’t like about my teeth, and he listened carefully. This was a first! I explained my story, and he said, “Megan, we can fix that.” I felt instant comfort and faith in his abilities. The reconstruction process was meticulous. In the end, my new crowns gave me the teeth of my dreams. I now have the big, beautiful smile I’ve always wanted. Had affordable, comprehensive treatment been offered to me previously, I would have pursued it years ago.
In my early years, my smile never really bothered me. I never had braces, partly because I didn’t want them and partly because I knew my family couldn’t afford them. Once I left school and started my professional working career, I started to notice my crooked teeth more and became more self conscious about them. As a result, I wouldn’t smile in photos or around people I didn’t know.
In my late twenties, I founded a distribution and manufacturing company. Now that I’m the CEO/Owner of a global multinational company, I became even more aware of my teeth and even more self conscious when speaking with partners, customer and my staff, and thought it was time to do something about it. After a bad experience with my previous dentist and 8 months of retainers, I went to see Dr. Downs at LeDowns Dentistry. Dr. Downs analyzed my situation and went through many different options with me and we arrived at the conclusion that veneers were the best option. At first I was a little scared with the idea of veneers and having my teeth shaved down (it’s not exactly something you can reverse). After months of discussions with Dr. Downs and his team, I was confident that not only was it the best option for me but Dr. Downs and his team were hands down the best of the best.
The process was extremely easy and less invasive than I thought. I’ve had my new teeth for 4-5 weeks now and I can absolutely say that it has changed my life! I can’t stop smiling! I feel confident around new people, I smile in photos and I just feel healthier. I really wish I had done this 10 years ago. People are amazed at how great my teeth look and even more amazed with how natural they look.
When I was 15 I fell off the monkey bars at a park and landed on my face. My braces went through my lips when I hit the dirt. I found out the fall had damaged a nerve. I needed a root canal on #8. Because much of the tooth was lost, the doctor had to place a metal post-and-core and a crown. I hated that thing. I met with Dr. James Downs and became his patient. I absolutely love my new look, and I surprised a lot of people who didn’t think it was possible for me to smile more than I had been. Now when I smile, I believe people are thinking, “WOW, she has beautiful teeth.”
I’ve had an upper front gap in my teeth since childhood. When I was in my early 30s, I had two porcelain crowns on my front teeth so that the gap could be fixed. However, that left me with two front teeth that looked very unnatural. I met Dr. Le in 2007 and after a thorough workup and consultation, I decided to have all my upper teeth restored. I have enjoyed my new smile ever since. I’ve been with LeDowns Dentistry since 2007 and have referred many of my close friends to them.
When I was thirteen years old, I fell while ice skating, and knocked out my front teeth. For 49 years I have worn a partial plate or a bridge. I have gone through three bridge failures. When the last one started to fail, the time came to make the choice between a new bridge and implants. I decided that for the first time in nearly fifty years I wanted my smile to look and feel “real”.
All through the process of my implant surgery, I was impressed with the attention to detail and the artistry that Drs. Le and Downs bring to their practice. It is clear to me that improving smiles and dental health is their passion. This passion has helped them create an office environment that is professional and nurturing. Every staff member made me feel cared for, safe, and confident that undergoing dental implants was the best choice I could have made for myself.
My new smile exceeded any expectations I had for what my teeth would look like at the end of this journey. Making the decision to have dental implants wasn’t easy, but looking back I know that it was worth the time and expense. I now have a smile I love, and after all of these years – I smile with pride and confidence.
“My drug addiction was destroying my life and my teeth. I tried to hide my teeth all the time. I hated talking to people because they were always staring at my teeth. I tried to avoid others as much as possible because seeing people meant talking to people and that meant they would see my teeth.” After Zeke had overcome the drug addiction, he flew to Denver from Utah to meet Dr. Downs at his office “It was there that I had my prep work done. Dr. Jim Downs is not only an extraordinary dentist but is an incredible person. I get compliments all the time about how incredible my teeth look,” said Zeke. “People tell me I don’t even look like the same person. Part of that is my new-found confidence, as I am no longer afraid to talk to people. I often find myself smiling for no reason at all. Maybe I’m showing them off a little, but hey, who wouldn’t?
I am blessed to have LeDowns Dentistry as my dentists. My friends have commented on what a wonderful job they did on my teeth. They look natural and very close to the original color of my teeth when I was younger. How wonderful to have dentists that care for and about their patients.
Thinking back from the time I was a teenager, I was always self conscious of my smile. My teeth were crooked, yellow, and I had an underbite. I wanted braces but was not able to afford it. LeDowns Dentistry made it possible for me to smile again. I have increased confidence, my teeth are white and straight, and my smile is bigger. Now when I’m asked to take pictures, I’m not afraid to smile and its nice to get compliments everywhere I go.
My smile didn’t really bother me when I was younger. I had veneers on #7-10 during my early teen years because I had spaces between those teeth. I didn’t really think much of my ‘gummy smile’ until I became a dental lab tech and started to notice everyone’s teeth. I found out that Dr. James Downs was going to do the procedure and I know I was in good hands. I feel I have more confidence now. I realized that I had been embarrassed to smile when I would meet someone for the first time. Now, I’m kind of proud of my new smile and I want to show it off! My advice for anyone who is unhappy with their smile or is considering a smile makeover is to go for it. It was really a great experience. I am so glad I had this done.
My name is David and I have been a patient of Dr. James Downs for over ten years. He has been an excellent dentist who really cares about his patients. Recently I have completed porcelain crowns for eighteen teeth and my smile has never looked better. It will also make my periodontal cleanings much easier and improve my overall teeth and gum health. Dr. Downs is the “Michelangelo of Porcelain” as he completed the procedure in two visits and the results were outstanding. He also teaches other dentists on this procedure and is a true expert. I would highly recommend Dr. Downs as an expert in porcelain crowns with terrific outcomes and gentle on his patients.
