Annual Trunk Or Treat Event
LeDowns Dentistry was happy to join the Green Valley Ranch community in their annual Trunk or Treat event held on October 28th. There was a record number of kids enjoying a safe way to go Trick or Treating. We handed out close to 400 packages of candy along with toothbrushes! Monique was our “Tooth Bug” and Lindsey was our “Tooth Fairy”. They got the kids along with parents dancing and talking about how to keep their pearly whites. LeDowns Dentistry was able to meet many families in the area. We look forward to being an integral part of the Green Valley Ranch community! We can’t wait to participate again next year

Grand Opening of Our Green Valley Ranch Location
This is an exciting time for LeDown’s Dentistry! We recently celebrated the grand opening of our second location in Green Valley Ranch. The celebration was a fun day for all and featured free hot dogs, face painting and balloons for kids, and a visit from the local fire department who brought their Engine 29 fire truck.
The celebration culminated in a Lion Dance performed by the Colorado Asian Cultural Heritage Center Dragon Lion Dance Association.
The day was enjoyed by both young and old and the smiles of the children were priceless.
We feel both honored and excited about this opportunity to expand our dental services by serving the Green Valley community.

The Latest Trends in Cosmetic Dentistry
Cosmetic dentistry is an ever-evolving industry. Technology is continually improving, bringing new information on how to treat our patients with better tools and education. Some of the latest trends are 3D dentistry, better screenings for oral cancer, and discreet braces.
3D Dentistry
While 3D graphics are not new, they are continually being improved and put to different uses. In dentistry, these graphics are helpful in taking better x-rays. These images create a model that dentists can zoom in on, get more accurate pictures, and generate more images with a single scan. With this tool, dentists can spot problems easier and faster than with traditional x-rays. Saving these images into the patient’s file is a more accurate health history too.
Even more beneficial is that these images are done with a computer and use little to no radiation. With less exposure, dentists have a safer option for checking inside the gums and is better for every patient.
Oral Cancer Screenings
One type of cancer that most people don’t think much about is oral cancer. It has a high mortality rate though, because it is so hard to spot. Part of a professional dental cleaning is inspecting the mouth for any problems or abnormalities. The biggest hurdle, like with any other cancer, is that it can go unnoticed until it is too late. Catching the cancer in its early stages increases chances of survival and less physical changes to remove it.
New advances in technology have provided us with tools to spot the signs of cancer earlier. Our office is currently using a system that uses blue light to find any lesions or pre-cancerous signs. It only takes a couple of minutes to do oral cancer screenings in Denver CO at our office.
You also play a part in early detection. Never be afraid to speak up when you are experiencing abnormalities. Some of the signs you can look for are:
- Mouth sores that won’t heal
- Lumps in the mouth or neck
- Difficulty swallowing
- Numbness in the mouth or face
- Growths that look like a wart
- Hoarseness
- Pain during swallowing, speaking, or chewing
If you notice any of these signs, make an appointment and come in to talk about them. We can do a screening outside of your biannual exams. If you have ever been diagnosed with oral cancer, know that your chance of having it reoccur are very high within the next 5 to 10 years of a first diagnosis.
Braces
Invisalign is not new, but their advances are continually improving. There are options to do it in a shorter amount of time. Instead of using the traditional bracket braces, you can choose custom trays to adjust your teeth a little at a time, but still faster. Invisalign is a fast, discreet method for straightening teeth, fixing bites, and correcting jaw problems. It is also more convenient for patients to eat and clean their teeth regularly. We highly recommend Denver Invisalign, but we do offer the traditional form of braces so that our patients can use whatever option with which they are most comfortable.

LeDown’s Dentistry Visits Vietnam and Helps Local Children With Dental Hygiene
A few weeks ago, members of the LeDowns Dentistry staff and their families took a humanitarian trip to Vietnam. We worked with kids in a local orphanage, providing living and dental supplies and toys as well as provide dental education and services to the children.
In case you missed any of our updates, below are the highlights from the trip:
Our team, along with other supporters were able to donate 75 dental goodie bags to a local orphanage, named the Danang Street Children Program. These goodie bags contained hygiene items including a toothbrush, toothpaste and dental floss. Besides handing out the goodie bags, our own Dr. Le, gave a brief tutorial on dental hygiene and the importance of daily flossing and brushing to the children.
About The Danang Street Children Program
This program cares for children ages 1 through 18 who don’t have a family or a home. Each child is provided for with living necessities such as shelter, food and clothing and an education. Street children in Vietnam often have limited life opportunities and tend to continue the cycle of poverty.
The Danang Street Children Program collects books, food, school supplies and living supplies. They don’t accept cash donations.
LeDowns’ Commitment to Service Both Here and Abroad
We were honored to be able to make this trip and we thank our patients who contributed donations. Good dental hygiene is important for everyone. We feel that every child, even the poorest of the poor deserve a healthy, beautiful mouth. Preventative measures such as flossing and brushing can save these children from future dental and health issues. Here in the U.S., dental procedures can be costly, depending on what you need done. For someone who can’t afford such dental services, the problem will continue and will likely progress into something worse that may affect the proper functioning of the mouth or destroy the health of the rest of the body. The children at the Danang Street Children Program are already at a disadvantage. We don’t want them to also have the burden of future oral health problems.
